Places of interest
If, besides nature, you like art, you are lucky again. You will be able to visit beautiful temples of Visigothic, Romanesque or Gothic art a few kilómetres away: the churches of San Vicente, Santo Domingo de Silos, The Huelgas Monastery, the Cathedral of Burgos…. And what about the Castle of Frías with its spectacular views?
When you enter the province of La Rioja, don’t forget to visit the Monastery of San Millan de la Cogolla, where the first written Spanish words are conserved.
Casa Fresneda brings you nearer to St. James Way (Camino de Santiago). Only a few kilometres away you will find Belorado and Santo Domingo de la Calzada, two of the most important places of this magical route.
While you wander along the tracks through the Demanda Mountains, you will hear water running, always abundant, giving life to flora and fauna. But you will also find marks of human action there, like the reservoirs of Arlanzón and Uzquiza.
Casa Fresneda advises you to visit a charming village, called Pineda de la Sierra, and its green track. A few kilometres from Fresneda de la Sierra, direction La Rioja, you will find Ezcaray and its ski-station. And in the other direction Burgos, known for its nobility and majesty, the land of El Cid Campeador.
“A beautiful place in the North of Spain. Beautiful mountains between Burgos and La Rioja. The perfect place for the quiet time you are looking for.”
